“Block”, Eleanor Vonne Brown and Roland Brauchli; book practices (open studio, exhibition, talk)

What is a book? How can we critically approach the process of reading and engaging with a book? Why do we keep going back to the question of materiality when it comes to text? Is there a value to the printed object in the post-internet era? What are the intricacies in the relationships between writer, designer and publisher? How does one curate series of books, publishing houses, libraries, reading spaces, bookstores? These are some of the questions that will be dealt with in the residency and series of events titled Block. Eleanor Vonne Brown and Roland Brauchli will be artists in residence at Atopos for #TextMe_Lab between the 7th and 14th of January 2019. They will use their residency time to develop a number of new personal projects for the following year, interacting with each other and inviting the audience to discuss and ponder upon the question of the relevance of books, their past, present and future.
